Port of Kapellskar

About Kapellskar, Guide and Tourist Attractions
(Kapellskar, Stockholms Lan, Sweden)

Kapellskar is not really a tourist destination in itself, with most people using it as a transit terminal to get to Stockholm and the beautiful Uppsala region to the north.

As a result, the E18 motorway has been constructed to allow unhindered access direct to the port from the Swedish capital.

What to do near Kapellskar

Kapellskar doesn't offer the tourist many attractions and things to do. It does however sit on a stunning coastline where cruises of the nearby fjords are popular. Many people come from Finland to ski in the Uppland region of Uppsala to the northwest of Kapellskar, while Stockholm is an impressive capital city with some outstanding attractions.

Tourist Attractions

Kungliga Slottet is Stockholm's major attraction, an ancient royal castle that is one of the world's largest working castles and on par with Windsor Castle in London. The castle boasts hundreds of rooms dating mainly from the 17th century; the Apartments of the Royal Orders of Chivalry, Royal Treasury, and Hall of State are the most impressive and all are open to the public.
The Museum Tre Kronor is also a must-see and gives insights into the original 13th century castle.

Another major attraction in Stockholm is the much vaunted Skansen. This features ancient traditional houses, a handicraft workshop and a zoo.

The best way to truly appreciate Stockholm, however, is to wander around the city on foot and visit the Stadshuset (town hall), Haga Park and a whole host of museums. The tourist information office in the city centre details every attraction..
